The humanitarian situation in Lebanon deteriorated significantly following the sharp intensification of hostilities in early March 2026, which marked the most serious escalation since the November 2024 ceasefire. This escalation triggered renewed mass displacement, damaged critical civilian infrastructure, and further compounded an already severe humanitarian crisis. The United Nations estimates that up to 1 million people in Lebanon require urgent life-saving assistance over a three-month period.

The Lebanon Humanitarian Fund, managed by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) is an existing Country-Based Pooled Fund (CBPF) that mobilizes multi-sector emergency response allocations based on partner presence and capacity. With GAC’s support, the fund releases emergency funding for priority life-saving interventions, including protection, food security, health, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), and shelter, with a strong focus on reaching the most vulnerable populations and enabling rapid scale-up by frontline responders.

Project activities include: (1) providing needs-based assistance in line with priorities in the emergency Flash Appeal for Lebanon; (2) increasing operational response capacity and coverage through diverse partnerships with non-governmental organizations, including national and local actors; and (3) improving the timeliness, effectiveness, and efficiency of life-saving interventions through coordinated, flexible, and rapid allocation mechanisms.

This Project supports the Canadian community’s efforts to attract, retain and expand foreign direct investment (FDI) and is ultimately designed to strengthen the economy at the community level.

The objectives of the Program are to; support the development and utilization of effective approaches to address social issues and challenges;
develop, exchange and apply knowledge, tools and resources that address social needs of individuals, families and communities; foster partnerships and networks to address existing and emerging social issues; recognize and support the ability of not-for-profit organizations to identify and address social development priorities; and, recognize and promote community engagement initiatives (e.g. volunteerism, corporate social responsibility, innovation, partnerships, coalitions) that mobilize community assets and develop capacities and resources for action.

The Worker Retention Grant provides funding to employers with an approved and implemented Work-Sharing agreement. Employers can use this funding to provide a weekly income top-up to workers who have reduced hours and are taking training while receiving Work-Sharing Employment Insurance (EI) benefits. The WRG is designed to increase uptake of training for workers while on WS to improve resiliency during the adjustment period by, helping workers maintain employment while receiving a larger proportion of total income through the grant.

The purpose of this funding is to assist Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation in participating in activities related to their Terms of Reference for long-term engagement and workplan with the CNSC.

The purpose of this funding is to assist Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation in hosting their 2026 Decolonizing Lands and Water Summit in September 2026.

The purpose of this funding is to support Passamaquoddy Recognition Group Inc. staff in attending two conferences to build knowledge and capacity to enhance engagement with the CNSC.

The purpose of this agreement is to assist Port Hope Community Health Concerns Committee in participating in the Commission hearing for Cameco to renew its licence for the Port Hope Conversion Facility for a period of 20 years.
