Contribution as part of the Participant Funding Program to Association des kitesurfers et véliplanchistes de Québec to assist in preparing for and engaging in Indigenous consultation activities and public participation opportunities associated with the environmental assessment process for the Port of Quebec Deep-Water Multipurpose Wharf Project - Beauport 2020.

Enhancement of Official Languages Program

The project being proposed by the British Columbia Search and Rescue Association (BCSARA) will react to feedback and engagement with First Nations communities in B.C that suggests a need for Search and Rescue (SAR) prevention programs and materials to be more inclusive and culturally appropriate. The concept of a NIF project to consult with Indigenous organizations and communities on SAR prevention materials and activities was brought forward to the BCSARA board several years ago, at that time another priority was chosen. Several recent events and changes present an opportunity to move such a project ahead, these include: -Establishment of the First Nations Coordination Unit in Emergency Management British Columbia (EMBC), providing a link between the EMBC role in supporting SAR, including prevention, and Indigenous Nation to Nation conversations providing an opportunity to include SAR related discussion.

The general scope of this project is to complete a river hydraulics model to update the flood mapping for the City of Prince Albert. State of the art modeling and mapping techniques will be required to complete the study with a three phased approach being implemented: Phase 1-Data Acquisition and Review: - Review previous hydraulics and flood mapping reports and establish model domain area in order to identify data gaps to complete the modeling. - Conduct a hydrographic river survey to measure bathymetry profiles of the North Saskatchewan River and the Spruce River within the study area; and - Summarize available data regarding infrastructure (i.e. culverts, bridges, outfalls, storm water connectivity, etc.) Phase 2 - River Hydraulics Modeling: - Complete a statistical analysis of historical stream-flow data to estimate design flows for the 100-yr and 500-yr return periods for the North SK River and Spruce River. - Create geometric data for the hydraulic model of the study reach by including LiDAR and bathymetric data for the North SK River and Spruce River and set-up model parameters. - Calibrate-validate the model with observed/historic flood data and conduct a sensitivity analysis of critical parameters within the process Phase 3 - Flood Hazard Analysis and Reporting - Evaluate the two design flood events by using the hydraulics model and estimate water levels and velocity profiles of flood waters. - Apply and calibrate model for the design floods. - Identify the two flood hazard zones (floodway and flood fringe) and develop GIS based flood maps. - Identify possible mitigation measures to minimize the impact of design flood.

The project will enable improved flood preparedness and emergency response through production of flood maps and adapted flood forecasts during flood season.

In Imagine Recognition and Pattern Extraction, application of Deep Learning is growing fast. Researching the innovative algorithms in those areas is critical for our product. However, many of the cutting-edge research face repeatability issues. Others have not considered performance, robustness and engineering feasibility. As we evolve our product, we focus on the applied scientific research, particularly, on how to fit the best mathematical models producing consistent results in our specific problem space within the real-estate industry. We aim to strike the best balance between various advanced analytics approaches.

Welaptega seeks to hire a mechanical engineering technician to undertake quantitative and qualitative evaluation and testing of its sub-sea marine cleaning and measuring tools. This testing will be used to increase efficiency, decrease environmental impact, and improve tool durability.
