The proposed project consists of a series of consultations with local leaders, youth, Elders, legal counsel, experts, and academics to establish a Cree/ Eeyou court.

In order to effectively represent the interests and priorities of the people of Dél̨ınę, the Dél̨ınę Got’̨ınę Government will be required to coordinate and execute a series of engagement sessions that are inclusive and accessible.

ITK Board of Directors endorsed the creation of the Ad-hoc Inuit Justice Working Group (Inuit Working Group) which was mandated to participate in the proposed federal Indigenous Justice Strategy.
The Inuit Working Group endorsed a proposed approach for co-development of the IJS: building on the engagement process that ITK, ITOs and Pauktuutit have previously conducted for the IJS development, the Inuit Working Group will draft the Inuit chapter for the Indigenous Justice Strategy.

The project will support the Manitoba Métis Federation within Wave 3 of the Indigenous Justice Strategy to undertake key activities within the co-development process with Canada.

MNBC shall work closely with the other Governing Members and the Métis National Council to co-develop with Canada, Assembly of First Nations, and Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami a Federal Indigenous Justice Strategy ["FIJS"] that reflects Métis specific needs and Métis expertise.

The Otipemisiwak Métis Government will work closely with the other Governing Members and the Métis National Council to co-develop with Canada, Assembly of First Nations, and Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami, an Indigenous Justice Strategy that reflects specific needs and approaches to areas of concern such as policing, corrections, courts, victims services with a Métis specific cultural response.

To create a shared table with Metis National Council, Assembly of First Nations, Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami, and various Canadian government departments where issues arise that are common across all national Indigenous organizations. Bilateral or trilateral meetings with Metis National Council, Governing Members, and Canada ensure that Métis specific approaches to certain areas of concern are addressed.

Mi’gmawe’l Tplu’taqnn will host Justice Gathering around the key elements document. The findings will be presented to the MTI leadership, and feedback will be presented at the in person gathering that will be hosted in Ottawa, by Justice Canada later this year. The funds will also support a meeting in August between the Wabanaki Justice Oversight Committee and Justice Canada to review the IJS Key Elements Consultation Draft and follow up meeting in Ottawa.

This funding will support AMC in assessing/reviewing Aboriginal Justice Inquiry's recommendations, Indigenous Justice Strategy Key Elements Consultation Draft, and share reviews in open discussions with the Department of Justice leading up to a plan draft.

Métis Nation Saskatchewan staff will co-develop the Indigenous Justice Strategy with the Government of Canada, in concert with the Métis National Council and the other Governing Members, and potentially in cooperation with other Indigenous representatives.
