About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

This grant represents Canada’s long-term institutional support to the Development Assistance Committee (DAC) of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The DAC uses these funds, along with other donors’ funding, to achieve its mandate.
The DAC’s mandate is to promote development cooperation quantity and quality and monitor and analyse development finance flows to improve sustainable development. The DAC reviews and provides guidance on development cooperation policies, promotes sharing of good practices, helps shape the global development architecture, sets high standards for development cooperation, and maintain and ensure the accountability of its members.

Mozambique Floods - shelter and emergency support – CRCS 2026

January 2026 — Weeks of intense rainfall have triggered severe and historically significant flooding across southern and central Mozambique, affecting an estimated 700,000 people. Entire communities have been displaced, food crops have been lost, and essential public infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed.
With funding from Global Affairs Canada, the Canadian Red Cross will support the efforts of the Mozambique Red Cross to provide emergency shelter and basic household items, safe water and sanitation, and protection assistance to flood-affected communities. Project activities include: (1) providing shelter and non-food items, (2) improving access to safe water and sanitation, and (3) supporting protection services for vulnerable community members.

Nuclear security training in Southeast Asia

This project aims to reduce the threat to Southeast Asian populations of a nuclear or radiological security event. It seeks to ensure Thailand’s autonomy in nuclear security training and to expand the training offered by Thailand’s Nuclear Security Support Centre (NSSC) to develop nuclear security competencies of Southeast Asian national beneficiaries. Project activities include: (1) developing a nuclear security competency framework and training approach and national nuclear security training strategy in Thailand; (2) advancing Thailand’s national training on information security and cybersecurity and deliver a train-the-trainer programme on secure trans-boundary transport, information security, cybersecurity, and incident response; and (3) organising a training course on secure transportation, workshops on competency management and training, and sessions on information security, cybersecurity, and incident response for Southeast Asian national beneficiaries, co-hosted by Thailand.
