The goal of this project is to assess and understand the current state-of-the-art methodology required to build a software application that is capable of visually inferring language from human facial and body expression. This research will be applied to a larger project which focuses on building a personality based human/computer interface which allows robotic devices to directly observe and respond to natural physical (and audio) user commands without requiring an intermediary method of input (such as a keyboard or smart phone).

The goal is to develop a simplified system, incorporating a multi-stage treatment process for potable water treatment for small/rural utilities.

The EFMP provides managers in industry and government with a tool to assist in the monitoring and reporting on the state of the environment within their development footprint. This project will develop new functionality to the EFMP platform in order to meet the needs of the oil sands industry.

There is a rapidly growing demand for anti-submarine warfare/ASW and ship surveillance systems, especially in regions concerned about China, North Korea, and Russia. There are many current and future requirements for unmanned systems to tow and dip acoustic sensors such as thin line passive towed arrays, directional sensors and compact sound sources. Some of this technology exists, but significant development work is still required to produce solutions that can be operated from these small platforms. The Firm intends to continue to develop compact passive and active acoustic sensing systems that can be operated from both unmanned and manned platforms.

Participation in the 2018 Canadian Agri-food Mission to the Netherlands from October 01-05, 2018 with a Canadian delegation led by the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP) to develop international partnerships and potential project ideas under the Eurostars Programme.

Integration of Stefanka FitPlatform V1

The R&D intern will be involved in the successful launching of new innovation products for 2019. The most important projects will be the launch of 2 new sparkling water flavors, line extension on the Tetra-Pak line of products (500 ml and 1 L) and innovative seasonal coconut chips.

The Firm launched the Mysa Smart Thermostat beginning in January 2018 and has sold over 12,000 thermostats to thousands of customers. The proposed project is to hire someone with customer support experience to develop support resources to better serve customers.

Elsius is developing a novel Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) device. The project will help to set up prototyping and small-scale device manufacturing capabilities to be used for animal testing and clinical trial studies.
