This project aims to reduce violence and contribute to inclusive and sustained peace in areas the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD) supports mediation and facilitates dialogue between various parties of conflict. The project enables HD to fill a gap in the international field of conflict mediation by engaging with difficult-to-access actors on sensitive issues not addressed effectively through traditional state diplomacy tools or that fall outside of UN-mandated mediation processes. The project also aims to support the meaningful participation of women in peace negotiations and create inroads for women’s networks and organizations to play an active role in bringing peace to their regions.

Le projet appuie le gouvernement de l’Équateur dans le cadre de l’intégration socioéconomique des réfugiés et des migrants vénézuéliens et au sein des collectivités d’accueil, notamment les femmes et les filles. Il vise à renforcer la capacité du gouvernement à gérer et à atténuer les chocs internes causés par l’exode des réfugiés et des migrants vénézuéliens ainsi qu’à régulariser leur statut. Le Mécanisme mondial de financement concessionnel (MGFC) est un mécanisme de financement qui mobilise le financement de donateurs sous forme de subventions afin d’offrir des prêts économiques aux pays à revenu intermédiaire, en vue de soutenir les réponses migratoires. Les pays donateurs (neuf pays donateurs) fournissent des fonds au MGFC, et la Banque mondiale agit à titre de fiduciaire. En tant que pays donateur, le Canada est membre du Comité directeur du MGFC.

Comme pour tous les projets de fonds communs, le Canada travaille en étroite collaboration avec d’autres donateurs et le gouvernement de l’Équateur pour promouvoir des systèmes nationaux efficaces, transparents et responsables, accroître la coordination et l’harmonisation des donateurs et renforcer la responsabilité mutuelle. Ce projet favorise également l’élargissement du dialogue sur les politiques entre les donateurs, le gouvernement et les partenaires, ce qui contribue à consolider les efforts en vue d’apporter une aide ciblée et efficace et d’obtenir des résultats de développement à long terme. Ce projet fait l’objet d’un suivi et d’une évaluation continus, en collaboration avec les autres donateurs.

The project aims to channel the creativity and the productivity of a new generation of students and young professionals, especially women, to contribute to poverty reduction and inclusive growth within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region. More specifically, it seeks to deepen the knowledge and develop practical skills of students or mid-level professionals from the ASEAN region in areas of study that contribute to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Project activities include: (1) the provision of short-term (up to 8 months) scholarships for study/research for ASEAN students in Canadian post-secondary academic institutions in areas of study that are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals; (2) the creation of institutional agreements between Canadian and ASEAN post-secondary academic institutions; (3) the provision of short-term scholarships for ASEAN mid-career professionals working in sectors that contribute to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development to enhance their knowledge and skills in their area of work; and (4) the creation of an alumni network.
