Grants and Contributions
About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Green Y - Tech Development. Seabed Classification Development for Habitat Assessments
907028
Maritime Way scientific acquired an acoustic seabed classification software suite from a west coast company called Quester Tangent Corp in 2014. The objective of this project is to develop the software by creating a bathymetric and a statistical analysis module and to redesign the data flow within the software. This project will endeavor to progress Maritime Way's seabed classification and underwater environmental assessment software solution. This software solution is design to provide an automated and objective methodology to process remote sensing data (sidescan and multibeam echo sounder data) to provide various information layers to be used by customer to enhance their environmental assessment and understanding of underwater area.

Mechanical Diagnostic Tool (MDT) - Prototype for Field Operation
907077
The MDT is being modified to be deployable on an electric wire line system. The system will use a 20 hp three phase electric motor, a variable frequency drive (VFD), a torque increasing/speed reduction gear box, three conductor wire line cable and be mounted on a wireline truck. The electric motor will rotate a threaded pin which will engage a threaded well on the MDT tool such that the pleated steel rings can be mechanically expanded to make contact with the well casing. The gear box pin material, thread design and the MDT well detailed design needs to be completed, the tool assembled and tested.

Youth Green - Hiring an intern
907203
The project aims to reduce the amount of Cr(VI) in Portland cement and the risks to health and the environment. To move towards this goal, the intern will become familiar with the various aspects of the problem and the solutions being considered. He will contribute to the development of certain Cr measurement protocols and the development of strategies for chemistry control levels of this contaminant in the cement.
