Grants and Contributions
About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Top-coated Metallized & Clear Barrier Solutions for Sustainable Packaging
918992
Leading brands, retailers, and packaging companies, like Amcor, PepsiCo, Walmart etc. have publicly committed to using 100% reusable, recyclable or compostable packaging by 2025. Celplast’s use of its patented Metacoat technology combined with its aluminum or aluminum oxide deposition techniques on recyclable film substrates, like polyethylene (HDPE, LDPE) and polypropylene (CPP, OPP), and compostable film substrates like polylactic acid (PLA), aim to address these requirements by delivering high barrier sustainable films to the flexible packaging industry. To commercialize the aluminum oxide process on these recyclable & compostable films, we will need to develop it on polyester (PET) first.

CTST Fast Pilot Project-demonstration of the AOS technology to disinfect and decontaminate stormwater in California (pre-commercial field pilot study)
919063
This project will establish an AOS field pilot in Bolivar Park in the Los Cerritos Channel Watershed, Lakewood, California for treatment of municipal stormwater. The pilot will receive a side stream to assess its ability to provide water disinfection and decontamination. The project will be implemented in 4 phases including; (1) planning and engineering design, (2) laboratory assessment, procurement and fabrication (3) testing three AOS configurations (4) techno-economic assessment of the treatment train. Measurable outcomes for the pilot are demonstrated improvements in water quality (bacterial and organic contaminants). Continuous, long-term operation of the pilot will allow assessment of the competitive advantage of the AOS.

Pilot Study to Assess Efficacy and Safety of a Novel Bath/Wash Treatment Against Sea Lice
916911
Infections by the parasitic copepod sea lice continue to be a challenge to most Atlantic salmon farming regions of the world, including Atlantic Canada. These host-specific parasites are very pathogenic to salmonid species (e.g. Atlantic salmon) especially populations in cage culture where the stocking density is unnaturally high. Large numbers of sea lice can quickly cause severe skin and tissue damage resulting in fish stress and mortality.
RPS Biologiques has developed a novel compound that will undergo pilot-testing prior to further pre-commercial development, to determine and compare the efficacy with other commercially available bath treatments.
