Grants and Contributions

About this information

In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.

The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.

Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Pilot Study to Assess Efficacy and Safety of a Novel Bath/Wash Treatment Against Sea Lice

Agreement Number:

916911

Duration: from Dec 3, 2018 to Mar 31, 2021
Description:

Infections by the parasitic copepod sea lice continue to be a challenge to most Atlantic salmon farming regions of the world, including Atlantic Canada. These host-specific parasites are very pathogenic to salmonid species (e.g. Atlantic salmon) especially populations in cage culture where the stocking density is unnaturally high. Large numbers of sea lice can quickly cause severe skin and tissue damage resulting in fish stress and mortality.
RPS Biologiques has developed a novel compound that will undergo pilot-testing prior to further pre-commercial development, to determine and compare the efficacy with other commercially available bath treatments.

YOUTH GREEN- Develop a greenhouse gas effect representative concentration pathway RCP8.5 Europe Augmented Reality app that illustrates a three dimensional map of Europe projected in real space demonstrating the impact of climate change

Agreement Number:

Duration: from Dec 3, 2018 to Feb 28, 2019
Description:

The RCP8.5 scenario in absence of climate change policies, combines assumptions about high population and relatively slow income growth with modest energy intensity improvements, leading in the long term to high energy demand and GHG emissions, (worst case scenario) Using our AR-map technology we are building a tabletop map of Europe to present the possible effects of climate change based on the RCP8.5 scenario including land loss to seal level rise, regions of crop failure, and the effects of migration as climate refugees change the face of Europe. This piece is meant to raise awareness of the future we will face within this century in a scenario of no course correction on anthropogenic climate change.
