The Canadian Red Cross will offer technical advisory support on Epidemic Prevention and Control (EPC) to support Personal Care Homes (PCH) facilities in the safe adaptation and implementation of EPC protocols and to enhance the development and organization of a safe healthcare environment in the COVID-19 pandemic context.

The purpose of this project is to offer technical advisory support to long-term care and retirement home facilities in the safe adaptation and implementation of epidemic prevention control.

The previous agreement enhanced surge capacity to support and complement existing health support systems in long-term care and residential facilities in Quebec over four months (November 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021). CRC remained in four long-term care homes in Québec through March 31, 2021. Employees who worked in these homes have a subsequent 14-day self-isolation/quarantine period post-deployment. The purpose of this agreement is to reimburse costs associated with the isolation period and the wind-down of support provided to Quebec LTCs.

The issuance of a grant to the RCMP Veterans Association will underline and affirm the RCMP's support, commitment and appreciation for the countless hours these retired citizen volunteers dedicate in the promotion of the RCMP and the communities they support.

This 18-month project will provide peer support to 100 South Asian women in the Malton and Mississauga regions who are experiencing COVID-19 challenges and losses related to health and well-being, economic security, social and cultural connections, domestic violence, and community resource navigation. 10 Women Peer Ambassadors will be recruited and trained in the areas of peer support; leadership and civic engagement; mental health and well-being; financial literacy, entrepreneurship; digital literacy; gender-based discrimination, domestic violence; and community resource navigation. Leveraging the learnings from the trainings, inputs collected from project beneficiaries and knowledge exchanges with partner organizations, the Peer Ambassadors will develop a ‘Framework to Provide Peer Support to Women Experiencing Challenges Related to COVID-19’. Through online individualized and group peer support sessions, these trained Women Peer Ambassadors will support and empower South Asian women by providing them with the knowledge, tools, and resource linkages to build resilience and capacity to deal with the aftermath of COVID-19.

This 24-month project will enable the establishment of an observatory on the systemic effects of the health crisis and economic recovery on the condition and retention of workers in the construction industry and will enable recommendations on structural measures supporting women’s access to equality in the government recovery plan.

The following measures will be taken to achieve this: The establishment of an observatory and data collection; the production of a report containing the recommendations for the attention of the concerned stakeholders; and, the dissemination of the results to public and government bodies and concerned stakeholders, as well as the presentation of the results.

This project would also address the impacts of COVID-19.

This 36-month project will provide immediate financial relief to support growing COVID-19 related costs and ensure additional protection for volunteers and survivors during moves out of abusive households.
