Development and testing of seismic source electric vibrators utilizing direct drive (linear actuator) motor technology which when successfully operational, will represent a major innovation in seismic imaging. These electric vibrators will produce signals with wider bandwidth and lower acoustic distortion than conventional hydraulic vibrators. They will be safer and less intrusive to the environment than explosive sources, and considerably cheaper than both.

The 2019 version of the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code is adding requirements for owners to consider sustainability and resilience of their structures such as buried structures. A sustainable product balances economic, social, cultural and environmental interests to meet infrastructure needs. A resilient structure can adapt to changes such as extreme hydraulic events. AIL intends to develop a design method to for our buried structures to meet sustainability and resilience objectives. This project involves evaluating the impact of extreme hydraulic events on buried structures with the goal of understanding of how buried structures can be designed to better adapt to climate change while while improving our sustainability metrics.

The project will carry out sampling and analysis to establish baseline concentrations of surface sediments in shallow, nearshore areas for the Cornwall Sediment Strategy (CSS).

Deep learning has delivered significant improvements over traditional speech recognition methods. Its use for on-device processing has been limited due to high computation/memory requirements. We aim to develop new methods to reduce CPU/memory footprint of deep learning models used for building on-device voice interfaces.

Abatement Technologies Limited is pursuing development of an all-in-one, turnkey, patient isolation solution that will configure existing rooms in healthcare facilities for negative and positive pressure isolation.

The therapeutic justice program pilot project will provide traditional counselling and clinical therapy to individuals involved in the justice system as a result of mental health and addictions arising from different factors such as personal and historical trauma, family violence and abuse. The program addresses the needs for a more culturally relevant response to criminality, mental health and addictions issues, and to healing from multi-generational trauma.
