Moreover, malnutrition continues to grow as a result of the harmful effects of the COVID 19 pandemic, which is contributing to a worsening of the malnutrition situation and is leading to health problems.

With GAC’s support, Oxfam-Québec is meeting the urgent needs of approximately 57,317 people who are affected by conflict in Lac province.

The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) increased and equitable use of disease-preventing, appropriate and gender-responsive WASH materials, facilities and services; (2) improved food security through increased and equitable access to lifesaving cash assistance and non-food items for crisis-affected people, and (3) enhanced use of gender sensitive and rights-based protection services for vulnerable women, men, girls and boys.
The expected ultimate outcome is lives saved, suffering alleviated and human dignity maintained in countries experiencing humanitarian crises or acute food insecurity.

Although ongoing fighting and other access restrictions have hindered full needs assessments in Tigray, an estimated 29 million people in Ethiopia are likely to require humanitarian assistance in 2021.

With GAC’s support, Oxfam is rehabilitating and upgrading critical water, sanitation, and hygiene systems and services for South Sudanese refugees living in Ethiopia’s Gambella region.

The project seeks to benefit nearly 500,000 people, 95% of whom are adolescent girls and young women between the ages of 15 and 24. Oxfam Canada is implementing this project in partnership with the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), the Guttmacher Institute, Action Canada for Sexual Health and Rights, and various Women’s Rights Organizations and Youth-led Organizations across Uganda and Mozambique.

P009567001 & P009567002 & P009567003: This project is part of Canada’s Women’s Voice and Leadership Program, which supports local and regional women’s organisations and networks that are working to promote women’s rights, and advance women’s empowerment and gender equality in developing countries. This is done by supporting activities, building institutional capacity, and promoting network and alliance-building as women’s rights and feminist organizations are critical agents of change. The Program also responds to the globally recognized, significant gap in funding and support to women’s rights organizations and movements around the world. This project strengthens the capacity of women's rights organizations in Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq to further empower women and girls in the region, through advocacy and the delivery of quality services to women and girls, particularly those in vulnerable situations.

This project aims to reduce gender-based violence (GBV) in Jamaica against women, girls, boys and other disadvantaged groups. Wo-Man Talk (WE-Talk) contributes to the fulfillment of human rights, increased gender justice and gender equality, and improved lives for women and girls, disadvantaged groups, families and communities. Project activities include: (1) establishing in-depth participatory research to identify social norms perpetuating GBV in Jamaica. The findings will inform behaviour change and advocacy campaigns; (2) developing a map and national directories of referrals and support services for survivors of GBV; (3) providing interactive training with male influencers to promote positive masculinities, and working with boys and young men to develop and reinforce gender- equitable attitudes and behaviours; (4) strengthening women’s rights and other advocacy organizations with training and tools to use evidence-based practices, case studies and accountability systems as they conduct oversight to help prevent and improve responses to GBV cases; and (5) creating an Innovation Fund to competitively award micro-grants to small organizations to advance gender-transformative activities that can reduce and respond to GBV.

Those directly affected by the conflict against Daesh, particularly those who were displaced and whose lives and livelihoods were uprooted and destroyed, continue to require humanitarian assistance to meet their basic needs.

With GAC’s support, Oxfam-Québec is providing water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and protection assistance to vulnerable internally displaced persons, returnees and host communities in Iraq.

Water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) needs remain extremely high in South Sudan, impacting public health outcomes.

With GAC’s support, Oxfam Canada is providing WASH and protection assistance for up to 81,450 conflict-affected people in Akobo East County and General Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA).

Displacement, disruption of livelihoods, and constraints on humanitarian access have left at least 400,000 people facing famine conditions and human rights abuses, including widespread sexual violence, have marked the conflict since its outset.

With GAC’s support, Oxfam Canada addresses the critical protection and sexual and reproductive health needs of conflict-affected populations in the Amhara and Tigray regions of Ethiopia.

The project, implemented by Oxfam Quebec, a Canadian non-governmental organization, will contribute to improving the rights of women and girls in all their diversity and advancing gender equality in Senegal.
