This phase II project aims to build on the Supporting Women’s Civil Society Organization’s in the Prevention of Violent Extremism program (April 2023 to March 2025) that successfully empowered 30 women-led civil society organizations (CSOs) in the Israr Coalition. It seeks to engage in prevention of violent extremism (PVE) efforts by deepening their capacity to understand and respond to the complex risks and impacts of radicalization to violent extremism. Phase II aims to increase its reach from 30 to 46 women-led CSOs and address additional challenges faced by the Israr Coalition in responding to the risks and needs of women and girls vulnerable to or impacted by involvement in violent extremism. The Global Center seeks to support the Israr Coalition to refine and expand training on gender and PVE across its full membership, equip Coalition members to navigate the challenges and risks associated with delivering training in gender and PVE in community settings, and facilitate avenues of cooperation between government and women-led CSOs on PVE, with an emphasis on trust building and incremental steps that reflect the sensitivity of such efforts in the Moroccan context.

This project seeks to support the design, development, and initial delivery of a comprehensive cybersecurity curriculum, specifically role-based education and specialist tracks. These education tracks will equip women and men in the region with the skills and knowledge needed to fill open cybersecurity positions in the newly inaugurated Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence (CCoE) and help governments and organizations address cybersecurity threats. In addition, this project will help to fund scholarships and bursaries for enrolment in these courses, specifically the Cybersecure Catalyst’s Certifications for Leadership in Cybersecurity (CLIC) course, which provides two globally recognized industry certifications in cybersecurity, and for participation in a Women in Cybersecurity Leadership course. Finally, this funding will also be used to support the hiring of a local staff/consultants (a gender expert and a program manager), and the sustainability of the CCoE in Malaysia, through train-the-trainer programming for the CCoE staff related to both curriculum delivery and student success best-practices.

This project aims to strengthen the economic empowerment of women members and users of women-led and mixed cooperatives. It focuses on climate-resilient value chains in three regions of Morocco. The project seeks to address challenges related to rural poverty and inequalities in Morocco. It aims to facilitate access to agricultural land and combat the multidimensional marginalization experienced by women in rural communities. The proposed initiative targets members of women-led cooperatives in rural areas of 3 Moroccan regions: Marrakech-Safi, Draa-Tafilalet, and Guelmim-Oued Noun.

Project activities include: (1) raising awareness among various community sectors about the main barriers women face in accessing paid productive activities and promoting positive masculinities; (2) improving cooperatives' access to financial products and services offered by financial institutions; and (3) adapting financial products and services to value chains and environmental challenges.

The Conflict and Resilience Research Institute Canada (CRRIC) will lead coordination, research, training, and facilitation activities and engage Canadian experts in the Charting a Path to Lasting Peace in MN initiative. The project will be based in Winnipeg, Canada, with activities in Bangladesh, Myanmar, Indonesia, and Malaysia through collaborating partners like the Center for Alternatives (Bangladesh) and will be implemented over a 24-month period. This project aims to evaluate and develop a sustainable peace model for Myanmar through two main phases: Phase 1 involves a comprehensive study and analysis of Track II diplomacy, examining the Aceh and Oslo Peace Processes to identify key actors, mechanisms, and strategies applicable to Myanmar. Phase 2 focuses on training and knowledge sharing by facilitating workshops and conducting virtual training sessions with Smartsettle to share research findings and train selected stakeholders in Myanmar, the broader Indo-Pacific region, and Canadian actors. This project aims to improve learning outcomes for women and girls in fragile and conflict-afflicted settings. It supports the Safe to learn campaign, a global, inter-agency and multi-country initiative, dedicated to ending violence in and around schools, so children are free to learn, thrive and pursue their dreams. The project focuses on addressing violence as a barrier to girls’ education and providing support for developing materials to enhance the integration of gender equality across the Safe to learn campaign.

This project represents the second phase of additional funds provided by GAC to UNICEF for Safe to learn. It aims to implement the initiative in Côte d'Ivoire, Mali, Niger and Togo with regional and global activities.

This project aims to increase the economic participation and resilience of 18,400 disadvantaged youth (10,915 young women and 1,050 youth living with disabilities) in Ethiopia, Rwanda and Somalia. It does so by providing them with the skills and support needed to succeed in the growing green economy. The project aims to improve the teaching capacity of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions by revising curricula and providing technical and material support, particularly in emerging and green skills. It also supports disadvantaged youth gain marketable skills needed to successfully find and sustain employment through financial support for TVET enrollment, entrepreneurship training, and employability skills training. The project also seeks to increase formal employment and entrepreneurship opportunities by providing business development services, internship placements or access to waged jobs. This project contributes to poverty reduction in Ukraine by increasing rural women’s income and addressing the deficits in food production caused by Russia’s full-scale invasion, environmental challenges, and persistent gender inequality. The project targets women farmers, members and leadership of selected agricultural cooperatives, agricultural extension services, agricultural marketing boards, and government decision-makers. While the project is focused on supporting women farmers, some support is provided to other vulnerable groups, such as veterans and internally displaced people in the project areas. Project activities include: (1) training and mentoring in landmine safety, climate-smart agriculture and advocacy; (2) introducing improved technology; (3) supporting cooperative development; (4) strengthening market linkages in selected agricultural value chains; and (5) supporting policy dialogue.

This project aims to fund international and regional capacity-building activities to counter North Korean sanctions evasion. Project activities include: (1) strengthening North Korean sanctions enforcement and information-sharing capabilities of maritime and compliance officials in Latin America; (2) strengthening information-sharing capabilities of maritime authorities in the Indo-Pacific; (3) capacity-building on North Korean counter-proliferation finance in Francophone Africa; and (4) cybersecurity training for maritime stakeholders in 4 Indo-Pacific countries.

Supporting economic recovery of women-led business and indigenous artisans in the aftermath of the Dec 2024 Port Vila Earthquake, through the establishment of a temporary relocation centre for businesses.
