The project aims to increase awareness and knowledge, as well as enhance access to legal support for refugees, newcomers, and refugee claimants in Canada. The organization will create and translate public legal education and information materials, organize workshops and training sessions, and provide legal advice to ensure clients are fully informed and supported. Additionally, they will conduct research and develop policy recommendations to advocate for changes that improve housing security and protect tenant rights for vulnerable populations.

The project aims to increase access to justice for newcomers and immigrants in the Vanier region of Ottawa by developing Public Legal Education and Information (PLEI) workshops on tenancy-related topics for current and future tenants. Additionally, the organization will expand its existing tenancy support program by hiring paralegals to provide tenants with summary legal advice, assist with completing and reviewing tenant applications, and refer them to relevant programs and agencies.

White Ribbon’s project, Centering Survivors’ Voices and Needs, will address the healing needs of survivors and enhance safety and support. Five focus groups will be held in Toronto to gather input from diverse survivors. Findings will guide an allyship program, including a social media campaign and a bilingual video on supporting survivors.

This project aims to measure the benefits of Indigenous Courtworker services by supporting preparatory work for a multi-jurisdictional study of the impact of Indigenous Courtworkers in Canada.

Justice for Children and Youth will offer trauma-informed legal services to young individuals, particularly those facing gender-based violence, through outreach to the Ministry of the Attorney General and evaluating public legal education resources for young victims of sexual violence.

Community Legal Information Association of Prince Edward Island, Inc’s project is a trauma-informed legal referral service. The project will hire a bilingual legal support navigator who will do client intake, provide information, legal referrals and ongoing case management. The organization will also provide legal consultations for small business and non-profits to help them develop or update their sexual harassment policies. Other activities will include providing plain language legal information and publications, referring victims to other essentials services and helping victims understand the law and justice system.

Durham Region is facing a rise in gender-based violence and human trafficking, necessitating immediate action. The organization will be employing three qualified public education specialists on a short-term basis to educate adults and students about healthy relationships. Their efforts will target awareness of the repercussions of GBV and sexual trauma and focus on recognizing GBV indicators while aiming to dismantle healing barriers, particularly for underrepresented groups. They will establish evaluation mechanisms to measure program effectiveness and gather feedback.

Northumberland Community Legal Centre proposes to hire 3 full-time equivalents (lawyers and/or licensed paralegals) that will deliver legal advice to 3 different regions (central and eastern, southwestern, and northern) in Ontario. All the participating clinics will provide ancillary holistic legal services as required by the client. The staff will also provide legal resource materials and training to increase access to legal information.

Introduce Artificial Intelligence features into the iOrders technology stack

The firm is developing ComplyPilot, a generative AI-powered compliance platform that improves efficiencies of how financial institutions manage regulatory compliance across their entire enterprise.
