In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.

The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.

Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

The Green Corridor project will be implemented in five communes of the Baradères-Cayemites Complex in south-west Haiti. The project has the dual aim of adapting to climate change and conserving the biodiversity of the Baradères-Cayemites Complex, while contributing to the food security of the region's inhabitants, particularly women. The project's main implementation strategy is to stimulate the adoption, by women and their communities, of practices that protect, sustainably manage and restore ecosystems. The project also seeks to strengthen women's economic power and leadership in biodiversity conservation and the sustainable use of ecosystems.
The project targets a total of 60,500 people directly, including 39,300 women and girls (65%). These people are mainly to be found in the communes of Baradères, Pestel, Espère section and Duquillon, Fonds d'Icaques in the commune of Corail, Grand Boucan and Cayemites Islands.

April 2024 – An estimated 300 million people worldwide need humanitarian assistance and protection due to ongoing conflicts, natural disasters and disease outbreaks. In response to humanitarian needs, Global Affairs Canada’s (GAC) humanitarian assistance provides predictable, multi-year, and multi-country support to longstanding partners in protracted humanitarian contexts globally.

With GAC’s support, Cooperative for Assistance and Relief Everywhere (CARE) Canada aims to provide assistance to address the urgent needs of 310,929 beneficiaries in Afghanistan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Somalia and Yemen. This project focuses on improving access to health care, including sexual and reproductive health, gender-sensitive nutrition services and survivor-centered protection services for people affected by conflict, situations of violence and other emergencies each year.

Project activities include: (1) providing gender-sensitive health services; (2) providing nutrition services including detection and treatment of acute malnutrition; and (3) establishing and supporting women and girls’ safe spaces.
