This project aims to determine the optimum conditions (without overly modifying the existing production chain) for implementing an innovative antimicrobial solution against Listeria monocytogenes in high-turnover agri-food plants. In addition, the results of this research could transform preservation methods in the agri-food industry, offering innovative and effective solutions in the form of antimicrobial solution combinations. We will contribute to reducing public health risks and improving the quality of products available on the market.

This project aims to identify and implement optimal, innovative antimicrobial solutions to combat Listeria monocytogenes and Escherichia coli in the Canadian agri-food industry. By validating these solutions under both laboratory and industrial conditions, the project seeks to enhance food safety, reduce the incidence of recalls and associated costs, and improve the overall quality and reputation of food products, all while addressing consumer demand for natural alternatives and minimizing health and environmental risks.

This project will explore the use of AI tools to augment and improve Wavve Boating’s ability to conduct customer app activity studies.

This project will assess opportunities or diversification and optimization in a forest products facility.

December 2024 - As a result of the ongoing conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and Rapid Support Forces, Sudan is facing a complex and unprecedented humanitarian crisis, which has displaced over 2.9 million people into neighbouring countries. Chad is currently hosting the largest number of Sudanese refugees from this conflict in the region, with over 680,000 people crossing the border. More than 80% of these refugees are women and children and are facing urgent needs in health, nutrition, shelter, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), and complexed protection.

With GAC’s support, World Vision Canada aims to provide life-saving protection, shelter and WASH services to vulnerable refugees and host communities in Ouaddaï, Chad. Project activities include: (1) strengthening of quality child-friendly protection services; (2) training protection committees and existing community structures to respond to and mitigate incidents of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) and child protection violations; (3) constructing emergency, gender-responsive shelters in consultation with vulnerable groups; (4) providing essential household items to vulnerable groups; (5) constructing improved, gender-responsive sanitation facilities and rehabilitating safe potable water systems; and (6) launching inclusive, gender-responsive and contextually-appropriate health and hygiene campaigns.

This project aims to support a Canadian Red Cross draw-down fund. This fund seeks to allow Canada to rapidly respond to International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) emergency operations following medium-scale humanitarian crises. The draw-down fund is a flexible funding mechanism that supports a timely and effective humanitarian response to those affected by natural disasters or complex emergencies, including conflict, population movement, food insecurity, and health crises.

With GAC’s support, the Canadian Red Cross Society works to save lives and help reduce the suffering of people affected by the humanitarian crisis through the IFRC. Project activities include: (1) providing timely emergency shelter and essential non-food items to crisis-affected populations; (2) providing emergency healthcare, including mental health and psychosocial support; and (3) providing protection, gender and inclusion services.

This project supports Middlebury College by funding the Vienna Centre for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation to conduct a workshop for experts and beneficiaries. It aims to formulate evidence-based recommendations for regulators to update practices, policies, and regulatory frameworks. It seeks to mitigate exploitable vulnerabilities in emerging technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) which can connect to the Internet of Things (IoT) in nuclear facilities, posing emerging threats to global nuclear security.

Building a strong feminist movement to advance women and youth leadership in gender policy implementation at the AU and RECs through intergenerational leadership and policy engagement.

The project aims to increase adaptation to climate change (CC) by young people and women agro-entrepreneurs, particularly from indigenous Awajun communities in the province of Alto Mayo in the department of San Martín in Peru. The project will strengthen young people's and women's ability to adapt to the effects of climate change through support geared towards economic autonomy and the enhancement of their culture and traditional knowledge. Project activities include: (1) delivering training workshops to increase the knowledge and skills of young and women agro-entrepreneurs, particularly Awajun, in climate-smart agriculture, with a view to adapting to climate change; (2) supporting women's economic autonomy and transformative leadership so that they can play a key role in implementing sustainable climate change adaptation solutions; (3) strengthening producers' associations and cooperatives so that they can develop an offer adapted to the target populations in favor of climate change adaptation, economic viability and sustainable development of their businesses; (4) increasing equitable access for women and young agro-entrepreneurs, particularly Awajun, to sources of climate financing.
