With GAC’s support, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) helps provide technical and operational support to the MOHW and partners to restore health service delivery and substantially contribute to minimize public health risk in Jamaica following Hurricane Melissa. Project activities include: (1) restored health care delivery capacity and access to health services in the most affected areas; (2) increased epidemiological surveillance to support early detection and timely management of disease outbreaks; (3) ensured access to safe water, emergency sanitation measures and vector control; and (4) supported efficient coordination of humanitarian assistance and management of information to effectively address the most urgent humanitarian needs.

To strengthen responses to drug and substance use issues in Canada.

The project addresses the need for housing and infrastructure by constructing a water reservoir, a water booster station, linear water, sewer, and municipal infrastructure, and extending public water service to Sitansisk First Nation property. This project will enable approximately 4,000 new units, with an additional 900 units unlocked by the water booster station.

The proposed facility will safely store firefighting equipment, provide a training space, and include an Emergency Operations Centre (EOC). The EOC will serve as a central hub during evacuations, offering a warm, safe place for community members to gather, access supplies, and connect with loved ones. It will also support emergency volunteers with meals, rest areas, and operational coordination. The building will have a double height 'garage' that will house the fire trucks and rescue vehicle and provide storage for a mobile trailer used for emergencies. There will be a concrete apron in the front of the bays to allow for cleaning, repairs and training on the vehicles.

Using Community-Based Science and Remote Sensing Data in Lake Ontario

This project supports the Otipemisiwak Métis Government to develop and implement a short-term Urban Guardians pilot project.

This grant supports Cowichan Tribes in funding the travel of two people to view objects and artifacts in care, hear about their archaeological context and start discussions relating to repatriation interests.

This contribution supports the Gitga’at First Nation to participate in negotiating an establishment agreement for the proposed national marine conservation area reserve in the Central Coast, British Columbia.

This contribution supports ongoing efforts to enhance the recovery of endangered Blanding’s turtle populations in Rouge National Urban Park and to monitor population distributions, movement and habitat use of species-at-risk reptiles and bats including Eastern Milksnakes, Little Brown Myotis, Northern Myotis, and the Tri-colored Bat. All data collected will be used to inform planning for future years of these programs.
