Program Purpose:
The objective of this project is to develop advanced energy materials based on nanotechnology concepts for high energy density storage. The work is focused on fabricating materials and understanding the electrochemical processes that are necessary to create future generations of rechargeable alkali and alkaline earth chalcogenide batteries, which can provide energy densities significantly greater than today's current lithium-ion cells.
