Description:
This project aims to strengthen the universalization and implementation of the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention (Ottawa Treaty) and the Convention on Cluster Munitions (CCM). Project activities include: (1) facilitating advocacy and promotion for the universalization of the Ottawa Treaty and the CCM; (2) assisting grassroots organizations, specifically women, youth and survivor-led organizations, to increase their capacity to promote the Ottawa Treaty and CCM nationally and regionally; (3) supporting the production and dissemination of several annual research publications on landmines and cluster munitions; and (4) maintaining the International Campaign to Ban Landmines – Cluster Munition Coalition online platform.

Expected Results:

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) strengthened universalization and national implementation of the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention (Ottawa Treaty) and the Convention on Cluster Munitions (CCM); (2) improved decision-making and advocacy by States Parties, civil society, and international organizations on the universalization and implementation of the Ottawa Treaty and CCM, humanitarian consequences of landmines and cluster munitions, and mine action; and (3) increased engagement by civil society organizations and affected communities in implementing the Ottawa Treaty and CCM at the national and international levels.
