Description:
This project will also help support capacity building in Africa by showcasing Canadian best practices in mine site safety, and featuring presenters with expertise in Canada's policy and regulatory regime, who can speak to key safety challenges faced by mining companies in host countries (with a particular focus on the Africa context), while providing a venue for Canadian mining suppliers to present their innovative technologies and solutions to a curated audience. The mine site safety program will include the following information: 1. Canada's mining story, and the evolution of health and safety at Canadian mine sites 2. An overview of Canadian safety standards and initiatives, at the Federal and Provincial and Territorial level. 3. Introduction to the major stakeholders involved in Canada's safety regime (IAA, PT governments, etc.), and global safety standards adoption and by Canadian mining companies operating at home and abroad. 4. An overview of Canadian services and technologies currently available and deployed at mine sites internationally, including digitization for underground mining, ventilation, remote monitoring, etc. with a particular focus on application in African mining project.

Expected Results:
Objective 1: Achieve Canadian Minerals and Metals Plan (CMMP) objectives under the Global Leadership Pillar, by sharing Canada's expertise in mine site safety, and innovation in Canada's MSS ecosystem, therefore deepening the relationship between Canada and key partners in the Africa region. Objective 2: Improve mine site health & safety practices and the adoption of innovative enabling technologies at mine sites abroad, and advance regional RBC objectives in the Africa region. " Outcome 1: Demonstrate Canada's leadership in mining safety at the world's largest international mining event with a focus on Africa. " Outcome 2: Increased awareness of Canadian mining supply and services (MSS) capabilities and encourage investment in and procurement from Canadian MSS companies specialized in mine site safety technologies, equipment, and services
