Question Period Note: Health and Safety – Collaboration with Provinces

• We support the provinces in their health and safety guidelines. All governments across Canada have shown through their actions that the safety of our communities is the top priority.
• We are working around the clock to keep the seafood sector supported – from fishers and harvesters, to processors and industry – as this is a critical sector for coastal communities and they are essential to maintaining food supply chains.
• The health and safety of Canadians is still our number one concern and we need to listen to the provincial governments on what they determine to be best for their provinces right now.
• This includes working with provinces and industry to determine what is the best way and timing to initiate, among other activities, commercial and recreational fisheries.
