Suggested Response:
• Our government is committed to putting more zero emission vehicles on the roads in Canada as part of the transition to a cleaner economy.
• Electrification and switching industry and transport to lower carbon fuels will help us get there.
• That is why we are investing over $300 million to support the construction of electric vehicle chargers and alternative fuel infrastructure across Canada. Over 200 of these stations are already open to the public.
• These investments support the establishment of a coast-to-coast network of fast-chargers for electric vehicles, as well as street charging and charging in apartment buildings, retail outlets and the workplace.
• With this network, we can make 100% of all vehicle sales zero-emission by 2040.
Freight
• We are also establishing natural gas and hydrogen stations along key freight corridors and fostering innovation through the demonstration of next generation charging technologies.
• We have invested and we are doing more to lower emissions from the transportation sector.
• [We have committed to do even more to reduce emissions in the transportation sector by installing up to 5,000 charging stations, funding school boards and municipalities to purchase 5,000 zero emissions buses, and converting business fleets to increase the number of zero-emission vehicles on the road.] (note: need to be updated when they are assigned)
