Targeted Funding for Indigenous Economic Development

Suggested Response:

•PrairiesCan is supporting economic development and entrepreneurship in Indigenous communities to advance reconciliation.
•PrairiesCan has dedicated 10% of our annual core program funding (approximately $11 million per year) towards Indigenous-led projects and has launched a web portal dedicated to Indigenous-led businesses and organizations.

Background:

•Our Tourism Growth Program has also dedicated 15% of funds toward Indigenous tourism operators and organizations to support this important sector.

Additional Information:

•PrairiesCan’s Indigenous Business Development Services (IBDS) program provides entrepreneurship support for new and existing Indigenous entrepreneurs and business organizations in the Prairies.
