Jasper Wildfires

Suggested Response:

• The federal government continues to monitor the situation in Jasper National Park, following the devastating wildfires that entered the community of Jasper in late July.
• Between July 25th and August 25th, 2024, the federal government matched donations to the Red Cross’ 2024 Alberta Wildfires Appeal, which will support families and individuals impacted by wildfires across the province.

Background:

• The Government of Canada also continues to collaborate with other levels of government and Indigenous peoples to support wildfire response. Recently, we delivered a $57 million joint investment with the Government of Alberta in the Fighting and Managing Wildfires in a Changing Climate Program – Equipment Fund.

• Our thoughts are with the people of Jasper as they continue to navigate this challenging time. Thank you to all first responders for their work to combat the fires, and to neighboring communities for assisting Jasper residents in their time of need.
