Use of the Open Government Portal makes it easier for institutions to monitor and improve accountability related to proactive publication under Part 2 of the Access to Information Act.

Proactive publications are delivered consistently to Canadians within legislative timelines, which increases trust and transparency.

Results:

Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) engaged institutions on the use of the Open Government Portal through the consultations on the Directive on Proactive Publication under the Access to Information Act and an interdepartmental working group. Following consultations, TBS published the Directive on Proactive Publication under the Access to Information Act, which establishes the Open Government Portal as the prescribed platform for proactive publications. Encouraging institutions to use the Open Government Portal enables Canadians to access proactive publications in one central location and supports monitoring and reporting on the compliance of institutions with the requirements of the directive.
