The reasoning for this contract on the ammonia safety valves is that if there is a buildup of pressure in the ammonia gas system, the safety valves will release the gas in a safe manner and not damage infrastructure of the ammonia gas system. If this system is compromised in any way they would have to shut down the rink until the infrastructure was repaired or replaced which could cost in hundreds of thousands of dollars depending on the damage.
