Additional Comments:
The department has a requirement for the design and production of an inclusive respiratory protection option that can be safely used by front-line police officers who have may have facial hair or don a headdress for religious, cultural, medical and/or gender identity reasons. Current respirators on the market are not designed for this type of use. Through the Innovative Solutions Canada program, the challenge was issued to develop a new piece of equipment to provide a solution. This contract will support the department's commitment to safety as well as inclusion.
