Data Strategy Tracker
TBS will set expectations and work with StatCan and others to enable the use of common standards through the development of an evergreen list of standards for GC-wide adoption and scaling of StatCan's Reference Data as a Service
Data Reference Standards can come from many places within the GC, identified by departments, international standards, committees and individual employees. All share a new approval process that, by the end of 2023, has approved three reference data standards for use, and is set to review a prioritized list of metadata and data reference standards in the years to come. More than a dozen data reference standards have been added to a GC-facing tracker on the ADM Committee on Data and Information's GCXchange site; this enables greater transparency regarding forthcoming standards and is intended also to help identify and set stewardship expectations.
TBS and STATCAN work together to co-chair this approval process. As an active user and maintainer of reference data standards, STATCAN currently has a short-list of data standards, including those to support the disaggregated data action plan (DDAP), various classifications, and meta data standards that are ready to scale to the enterprise.
