Data Strategy Tracker
PCO and TBS will coordinate departments on a review of real and perceived data sharing challenges, including frictions in existing legislation, using concrete use cases leading to recommendations.
Through the newly established GC Enterprise Data Governance Framework, the Privy Council Office (PCO) has worked with TBS and other departments and agencies to coordinate efforts to improve data sharing by setting up the process for GC enterprise standards adoption. As a result, a first data reference standard on Canadian provinces and territories has been approved for the GC, to be implemented by all federal departments and agencies. This is an important first step in:
• ensuring that our data assets are of better quality
• facilitating data sharing and interoperability
• improving the use of reliable data in reporting, monitoring and decision-making within the GC and with our external partners (provincial and the public)
With StatCan, PCO is leading the Federal Advisory Committee on Disaggregated Data. The committee’s goal is to enhance coordination among federal departments and agencies in the use and sharing of disaggregated data across the GC. The committee has met two times so far in 2023, with another meeting scheduled for December 2023. In addition, PCO has delivered presentations internally and to other federal departments and agencies that build awareness and understanding of methods that make disaggregated data more accessible for interdepartmental sharing and impact analysis.
