1. On December 13, 2018 amendments to the Canada Business Corporations Act (CBCA) were passed (Bill C-86) to require federally-incorporated private corporations to create and maintain a register of individuals with significant control over the corporation in its corporate books (coming into force in June 2019). 2. The CBCA has required shares to be in registered form since 1975.Amendments to the CBCA to prohibit issuance of options and rights in bearer form came into force on May 1, 2018.
