- Federal, provincial and territorial Finance Ministers and other Ministers responsible for anti-money laundering met on June 13, 2019 to confirm commitment and discuss progress and next steps to implement the Agreement to Strengthen Beneficial Ownership Transparency. - British Columbia, Manitoba and Prince Edward Island have passed legislative amendments improving beneficial ownership transparency in line with the Finance Ministers' Agreement, while Saskatchewan and Nova Scotia have introduced similar draft legislation. - As noted, amendments to the CBCA to require federally-incorporated private corporations to keep records of beneficial owners that are available to law enforcement and tax authorities, and to prohibit the issuance of options and rights in bearer form) are now in force. Federal, provincial and territorial governments continue to cooperate on assessing other potential mechanisms to improve timely access to beneficial ownership information by competent authorities.
