Catch, effort, location (latitude, longitude), relative abundance indices, and associated biological data from groundfish multi-species bottom trawl surveys in Queen Charlotte Sound (QCS), Hecate Strait (HS), West Coast Vancouver Island (WCVI), West Coast Haida Gwaii (WCHG) and the Strait of Georgia (SOG), British Columbia. Introduction
This is a set of long-term and coordinated surveys that together cover the continental shelf and upper slope of most of the British Columbia coast. The objectives of these surveys are to provide fishery-independent abundance indices of all demersal fish species available to bottom trawling and to collect biological samples of selected species. The surveys follow a random depth-stratified design and the sampling units are 2 km by 2 km blocks.
This dataset contains the telemetry data obtained from the different subsystems during the Strato-Science 2018 campaign of the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) which took place in Timmins, Ontario, Canada between August 6 and 26, 2018. (For more information on this campaign : http://www.asc-csa.gc.ca/fra/sciences/ballons/campagne-2018.asp.) The data was collected during the flight named NUMBUS-5/FAST. These data originate mainly from Payload Remote Interface, Sensor Suite and Mass Memory Subsystem (PRISM).
Concentrations of sea pens, small and large gorgonian corals and sponges on the east coast of Canada have been identified through spatial analysis of research vessel survey by-catch data following an approach used by the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organization (NAFO) in the Regulatory Area (NRA) on Flemish Cap and southeast Grand Banks. Kernel density analysis was used to identify high concentrations. These analyses were performed for each of the five biogeographic zones of eastern Canada. The largest sea pen fields were found in the Laurentian Channel as it cuts through the Gulf of St. Lawrence, while large gorgonian coral forests were found in the Eastern Arctic and on the northern Labrador continental slope.
The data is based information reported to Workers’ Compensation Board by March 31 for employers who are required to have WCB accounts. The dataset contain employer-specific information on occupational fatality, lost-time and disabling injury claims and presented as counts and rates. This information allows for the tracking of workplace health and safety performance indicators over time.

The Canadian Environmental Sustainability Indicators (CESI) program provides data and information to track Canada's performance on key environmental sustainability issues. The Emissions of harmful substances to air indicators track human-related emissions to air of 3 substances that are defined as toxic under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999: mercury, lead and cadmium and their compounds. Emissions to air are provided at the national and regional (provincial and territorial) level and by source for each substance. Facility and global emissions to air are also provided for mercury.
