Mercury is a naturally occurring element that is also present in the environment as a result of human activities. Water bodies can be contaminated with mercury from industrial sources, such as pulp and paper mills, and from the soil when large reservoirs are created by hydro-electric dams. Methyl mercury is considered the most toxic form of mercury to human health and is formed when bacteria interact with mercury present in water and plants. Methyl mercury accumulates up the food chain, and predatory fish generally represent the main source of exposure from the diet.

An archive of 2D regional seismic and long period magnetotelluric data collected during 20 years of work under the LITHOPROBE project. Data are primarily onshore and cover widespread regions of Canada. This infographic describes some results for the Digital Technology and Internet Use survey of 2013. It measures the use and adoption of various digital technologies, including the Internet. The survey focuses on the use of information and communications technologies, including personal computers, mobile devices, and the Internet, using a sample of Canadian enterprises in the private sector. The survey also provides indicators of e-commerce and website use.

Data is collected using automated recording devices which are pre-programmed and set-up in forest ecosystems. Units are programed to capture bird calls in the mornings from May-August and subsequent recordings are analysed by Bird Studies Canada. The abundance of forest birds from various community guilds are compared to other analogous forest types from across Ontario monitored using the Forest Bird Monitoring Protocol.

This booklet has two purposes. First, it's meant to help children learn some basic facts about family law and give them an idea of the processes that parents may go through when they separate. Second, it's meant to help children realize that it's normal for them to have an emotional response to the divorce of their parents. The booklet encourages children to think about talking to someone they trust — like parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts or family friends, neighbours or someone from their community, such as their school, church, synagogue or mosque.
