The Canadian Environmental Sustainability Indicators (CESI) program provides data and information to track Canada's performance on key environmental sustainability issues. The Emissions of harmful substances to air indicators track human-related emissions to air of 3 substances that are defined as toxic under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999: mercury, lead and cadmium and their compounds. For each substance, data are provided at the national, regional (provincial and territorial) and facility level and by source. Global emissions data are also provided for mercury.

Two classes of beaches are distinguished, those with infrastructure and those without. Beaches with infrastructure: open sandy beaches along the shore of a great lake, within approximately 200 meters of a structure. Beaches without infrastructure: open sandy beaches along the shore of a great lake, not within 200 meters of a structure. The Southern Ontario Land Resource Information System didn't digitize beaches.

Contained within the 2nd Edition (1915) of the Atlas of Canada is a plate that shows five maps illustrating international and interprovincial boundary claims, circa 1915. Two show the Quebec - New Brunswick - Maine area, and another displays the Canada - Labrador boundary. There are two small maps showing offshore claims; one for the Bay of Fundy, and the other for the Gulf Islands (San Juan) in the Strait of Georgia. The Eastern Canada- United States boundary was commonly called the 'Marine boundary' from 1783 to 1842.

In 2016-17, DFO Maritimes Region undertook a Marine Protected Area (MPA) network analysis for the Scotian Shelf-Bay of Fundy Bioregion. The analysis considered available bioregional-scale ecological and human use data in an effort to identify a draft MPA network design that would protect biodiversity while minimizing any potential impacts on commercial fishing and other industries.
