The Cold Lake oil sands area - Township 56 to 69, Range 1 to 11, west of the 4th Meridian, falls within the Lower Athabasca Regional Plan (LARP). As part of Alberta's Land-use Framework, LARP was developed in 2012 to set the stage for robust growth, vibrant communities and a healthy environment within the region. One of its implementation objectives is to balance the economic development of oil sands and impacts on the ecosystem and environment. This is to be achieved through an enhanced science-based monitoring for improved characterization of the environment and to collect the information necessary to understand cumulative effects.

This dataset includes water chemistry data for the La Salle River near Elie, Manitoba, Canada (Water Survey of Canada Hydrometric Station 05OG008) for the time period of 2009 – 2015. The data was collected for hydrological and water quality modelling as part of Agriculture and Agri-food Canada’s Red-Assiniboine Project. Chemical parameters include total dissolved nitrogen, total nitrogen, total dissolved phosphorus, total phosphorus, and total suspended solids. The frequency of data collected ranges from multiple samples per week during high discharge periods from 2013 to 2015 to weekly or sub-monthly frequency from 2009 to 2012 and during periods of low stream discharge.

The flood extent products are derived from satellite imagery with a system developed and operated by the Earth Sciences Sector (ESS) of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan). This emergency mapping service is activated for large flood events in Canada. Products are generated and distributed in near real time as processed imagery becomes available. NRCan works closely with Public Safety Canada's National Headquarters in Ottawa, Regional offices, and Government Operations Centre (GOC) to define of user needs, technical feasibility and for the coordination of satellite acquisition planning.

Contained within the 3rd Edition (1957) of the Atlas of Canada is six maps that show the humidity and fog occurrences across Canada. Two maps on the top that show the mean mixing ratios for January and July, respectively. Mixing ratio is defined as the ratio of the mass of the water vapor to the mass of dry air in a unit volume. The two mixing ratio maps on this plate are based on observations taken at midnight, 6 a.m., noon, and 6 p.m. Greenwich Mean Time over the ten year period from 1941 to 1950 inclusive.
