The number of days in the forecast period with a minimum temperature below the frost temperature, -5°C for herbaceous crops over the non-growing season (ifdherbnogrow). Week 1 and week 2 forecasted index is available daily from November 1 to March 31. Week 3 and week 4 forecasted index is available weekly (Thursday) from November 1 to March 31. Over-wintering crops are biennial and perennial field crops such as herbaceous plants (strawberry, alfalfa, timothy, and many other forage crops) and woody fruit trees (apple, pear, peach, cherry, plum, apricot, chestnut, pecan, grape, etc.).

The Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks started the Multi-Media Monitoring Study in 2015, in support of Ontario's Pollinator Health Action Plan, to measure changes in neonicotinoid insecticide concentrations in the environment following restrictions on the use of neonicotinoid-treated corn and soybean seeds. This data characterizes neonicotinoid concentrations in streams in five southern Ontario watersheds. This dataset consists of a set of polygons that represent the drainage areas of active discharge stations within the Great Slave Lake Drainage Area. In partnership with the provinces, territories and other agencies, the Water Survey of Canada (WSC) operates a network of over 2600 active hydrometric gauges across the country. The NHS Basin Polygon dataset is compilation of datasets collected from a number of contributing agencies, including provinces, territories and other government departments. Environment and Climate Change Canada staff in a number of offices across the country is also responsible for the derivation of large parts of the dataset.
