Fish health on British Columbia salmon farms is managed throughout the production cycle to maintain healthy fish populations and to identify and address disease occurrences as soon as they arise. Aquaculture licence conditions set out mandatory monitoring and reporting requirements to ensure any potential impacts are appropriately mitigated at salmon farms. A central component of on-farm fish health management is a Fish Health Management Plan (FHMP). FHMPs are approved by Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) and describe the fish health principles that the licensee must follow to maintain fish health and biosecurity at the farm.

Referrals are the number of reported allegations of abuse against a resident in a licensed DCS facility that are inquired into, but do not necessarily result in an investigation. Investigations occur after a thorough inquiry into a referral determines there are reasonable grounds to believe a resident has been abused, or is likely to be abused. Founded Cases is the number of cases where the investigation determined there were probable grounds abuse occurred. The Protection for Persons in Care Act is an extra safeguard for patients or residents 16 years of age or older receiving care from Nova Scotia’s hospitals, residential care facilities, nursing homes, homes for the aged or disabled persons under the Homes for Special Care Act."

This data shows spatial density of potatos cultivation in Canada. Regions with higher calculated spatial densities represent agricultural regions of Canada in which potatoes are more expected. Results are provided as rasters with numerical values for each pixel indicating the spatial density calculated for that location. Higher spatial density values represent higher likelihood to have potatoes based on analysis of the 2009 to 2020 AAFC annual crop inventory data.
