The Canadian Environmental Sustainability Indicators (CESI) program provides data and information to track Canada's performance on key environmental sustainability issues. The Air quality indicators track ambient concentrations of fine particulate matter, ground-level ozone, sulphur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, and volatile organic compounds at the national, regional and urban levels and at local monitoring stations. The national and regional indicators are presented with their corresponding Canadian Ambient Air Quality Standard when available. Canadians are exposed to air pollutants on a daily basis, and this exposure can cause adverse health and environmental effects.

Regional variations are also taken into account. The ecumene is generalized for small-scale mapping.

Location of road observation cameras. These PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) type cameras installed at intersections allow the real-time monitoring of strategic points of the network. The main features of this type of camera are the ability to rotate 360 degrees and perform “zooms” (image enlargements). In particular, cameras make it possible to reduce congestion by providing a tool that makes it possible to react more quickly in the event of an incident. The images provided by the cameras are broadcast on the City's website ([] ( and allow the general public to learn in real time about traffic conditions at certain critical points and thus have the choice to change their mode of transportation or at least their itinerary.**This third party metadata element was translated using an automated translation tool (Amazon Translate).**
