Ecoregion - Seven New Brunswick Ecoregions delineate areas that are different with regard to climate (precipitation and temperature), based principally on elevation above sea level and marine influences. Ecodistrict - Ecodistricts are nested subdivisions of Ecoregions based on geomorphologic and lithologic differences. The correct way to quote an ecodistrict number is to quote both its ecoregion and ecodistrict numbers, separated by a dash, e.g. : 2-1 denotes the Upsalquitch Ecodistrict in the Northern Uplands Ecoregion.

This dataset is associated with the article authored by Louis De Grandpré et al. titled "Defoliation-induced changes in foliage quality may trigger broad-scale insect outbreaks" accepted for publication in Communications Biology. In this study, progression of a spruce budworm outbreak over several years was shown to be associated with increased soil nutrient fluxes and availability and improved foliage quality in surviving host trees.

The “Major Basins of the AAFC Watersheds Project - 2013” dataset is a geospatial data layer containing polygon features representing the 23 major basins of the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) Watersheds Project. The Project is subdivided by ‘incremental gross drainage areas’ associated to individual hydrometric gauging stations. The maximum area that could contribute runoff to each gauging station, less that of its upstream neighbour(s) is called an ‘incremental gross drainage area’. Conceptually, the major basins are collections of the “incremental gross drainage areas” associated with particular major river or lake reach (for example, reaches of the Saskatchewan or Athabasca River).
