This Alberta Official Statistic describes the physical condition of Alberta’s highways. The International Roughness Index (IRI) is used to measure the roughness of roads and is used as a sole measurement to categorize overall physical condition. The average IRI value is calculated over every 50 metre segment of the Alberta highway network. This detailed data is further averaged over one kilometre sections to provide an assessment of condition.

The dataset includes crime statistics at the provincial and police service levels. It is based on police reported incidents of crime reported through the Uniform Crime Reporting Survey (UCR). Statistics include the crime severity index, violent crime severity index, and non-violent crime severity index overall for provincial and police service levels. The Youth Crime Severity Index is based on the same principles as the overall Crime Severity Index, which reflects the seriousness of offences, but uses the number of youths accused instead of an incident count.

This is the backgrounder for the mental health and distress centres. Supporting the mental health and well-being of Canadians, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, is a priority for the Government of Canada. A $50 million investment to increase the capacity of distress centres across the country, announced in the 2020 Fall Economic Statement, will help connect Canadians to the appropriate supports and resources. This funding will provide distress centres across Canada with the support they need to meet increased demand for crisis services.

The Blended Index (BI) is a model which employs multiple potential indicators of drought and excess moisture, such as the Palmer drought index, rolling precipitation amounts and soil moisture, and combines them into a weighted, normalized value between 0 and 100. The inputs and weights used in this model are subject to change periodically as it is optimized to best represent extent, duration and severity of impactful weather conditions. The blended index is deployed as two variations; short term (st) focusing on 1 to 3 months, and long term (lt) focusing on 6 months to 5 years.

The City of Montreal is responsible for the development, maintenance and management of the road network located on its territory. Knowledge of pavement conditions is an important part of the process of managing and determining needs. To obtain this information relating to the condition of the pavements, auscultation campaigns using multifunctional vehicles equipped with different technologies are carried out on an ad hoc basis. In recent years, three auscultation campaigns have been carried out, in 2010, 2015 and 2018.
