The Government of Nova Scotia helps identify, protect and preserve built heritage throughout the province. The Heritage Property Program was created to assist Nova Scotians to better understand the heritage values of our unique properties and to better preserve these heritage assets. It is an outcome of the Heritage Property Act.
This plan sets out our approach to integrate experimentation into all elements of our department’s core business. All funding programs are pursuing experimentation to test, measure and compare the effectiveness of new approaches. All of our internal service offices are supporting the pursuit of experimentation in the department, and are adapting their processes and risk tolerances accordingly. Experimentation is a priority for employees at all level.

This dataset contains spatial and attribute data for local government Heritage Conservation Areas (HCAs) established for heritage conservation purposes in British Columbia, as tracked by BC Heritage Branch. Under the Local Government Act, a local government may designate a HCA within its Official Community Plan (OCP). An OCP may include a schedule of properties located within a Heritage Conservation Area that are considered to be protected heritage property. This is a multi-part polygon layer.
