The Ministerial Transition Briefing Material is a collection of information created to support the introduction of appointed Ministers after an election. The Natural Resources Canada briefing materials were designed to be digital and open by default to be a key reference tool long after the initial transition as well. The transition material provides an overview of Natural Resources Canada's mandate and structure, other agencies and authorities in the Minister's portfolio, current topics, key events in the first few months, roles and responsibilities, as well as some key process guidance.

In accordance with section 6 of the Public Servants Disclosure Protection Act (PSDPA), the Values and Ethics Code of the Department of Justice (the Code) sets out the values and ethics that guide public servants at the Department in all their professional activities. It also provides a set of guidelines and principles to support ethical behaviour and decision making for all public servants. The Code outlines the values and expected behaviours that guide public servants in the Department in all activities related to their professional duties. The Code provides guidance for common situations involving our work at the Department.

The Canadian Victims Bill of Rights (CVBR) came into force on July 23, 2015. The CBVR created statutory rights at the federal level for victims of crime. The legislation establishes statutory rights for victims of information, protection, participation, and to seek restitution. It also requires that a complaint process be established by federal departments, agencies, or bodies for alleged breaches of these rights.
