The Canadian Environmental Sustainability Indicators (CESI) program provides data and information to track Canada's performance on key environmental sustainability issues. The Sustainable fish harvest indicator compares harvest rates with established harvest limits. These limits are based on scientific information, providing a direct measure of whether we are managing the use of these resources within ecosystem limits. It is one measure of fishing pressure on wild fish stocks.

The Canadian Environmental Sustainability Indicators (CESI) program provides data and information to track Canada's performance on key environmental sustainability issues. The Sustainability of timber harvest indicator compares the amount of timber harvested with the estimated wood supply. Wood supply is the volume of timber that can be harvested from an area over a specified period of time while meeting environmental, economic and social objectives. In the indicator, wood supply refers to industrial roundwood supplies only and does not include other types of harvest.

The Canadian Environmental Sustainability Indicators (CESI) program provides data and information to track Canada's performance on key environmental sustainability issues. If unsafe bacterial levels are measured or if shoreline investigations show pollution concerns, Environment and Climate Change Canada makes classification recommendations to its Canadian Shellfish Sanitation Program partners. Fisheries and Oceans Canada opens or closes harvest areas based on those recommendations. The fecal coliform levels in marine waters of shellfish harvest areas are monitored to ensure that shellfish are safe for human consumption.

The Canadian Environmental Sustainability Indicators (CESI) program provides data and information to track Canada's performance on key environmental sustainability issues. The Status of major fish stocks indicator reports the status of major fish stocks. Federal biologists use a variety of scientific methods to assess fish stock levels and assign 1 of 3 stock status zones (Healthy, Cautious or Critical) by comparing the size of the stocks to reference points. If there is insufficient information to be able to determine the stock status zone, the status is uncertain.

The Canadian Environmental Sustainability Indicators CESI program provides data and information to track Canada's performance on key environmental sustainability issues. The Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers PBDEs in Fish and Sediment indicators identify the drainage regions where concentrations are within or have exceeded the Federal Environmental Quality Guidelines FEQGs for PBDEs in fish and sediment. The FEQGs were developed under the Chemicals Management Plan and are used in various ways. In this report they are used to evaluate the significance of monitoring data.

The Canadian Environmental Sustainability Indicators (CESI) program provides data and information to track Canada's performance on key environmental sustainability issues. The Perfluorooctane sulfonate in fish and water indicators provide information on the presence of perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) in the environment and indications of the progress of strategies and policies to reduce or control their occurrence in the environment. These indicators identify the drainage regions where concentrations are below or above the Federal Environmental Quality Guidelines for PFOS in fish and water. Information is provided to Canadians in a number of formats including: static and interactive maps, charts and graphs, HTML and CSV data tables and downloadable reports.
