The base of the Paskapoo Formation is unconformable with the underlying Scollard Formation. Alberta Geological Survey differentiates the Paskapoo Formation from the underlying Scollard Formation by the first thick sandstone above the uppermost coal seam of the Ardley coal zone. We defined ‘thick sandstone’ to be 5 m or more thick. This dataset contains the gridded results of the structural surface of the base of the Paskapoo Formation modelled from stratigraphic picks of the >5 m sand above the Scollard Formation coal from oil and gas industry gamma-ray logs.

This dataset is a grid of the thickness of the Haynes aquifer within the Paskapoo Formation. The Haynes aquifer is a regionally extensive body of sand that lies in the bottom part of the Paskapoo Formation. The isopach was created from the modelled results of the average sandiness of 25 m thick slices in boreholes completed within the Paskapoo Formation. Parts of the aquifer are as much as 100 m thick, particularly in the west near the deformation belt and in a region west of the city of Red Deer.

This dataset maps the thickness of the Lacombe aquitard as defined by outputs of a 3-D model of sandiness in the Paskapoo Formation. The Lacombe aquitard consists of >65% non-sandy material in stacked, 25 m thick slices above the base of the Paskapoo Formation.

This polygon dataset is part of the three-dimensional (3-D) hydrostratigraphic model of the Sylvan Lake sub-basin in the Edmonton-Calgary Corridor, central Alberta. This dataset provides the areal distribution of greater than or equal to 0.60 net-to-gross sandstone values for the Paskapoo Formation - Lower Composite Slice, defined by an analysis of normalized oil and gas well digital gamma-ray logs to produce discrete slices of net-to-gross sandstone distribution within the Paskapoo Formation. The zonated Paskapoo Formation - Lower Composite Slice is in ESRI shapefile format for input into a groundwater flow model. This dataset supplements Alberta Geological Survey (AGS) Open File Report 2014-10, which includes a full description of the steps taken to produce the dataset.

This is a raster dataset of the thickness of the Paskapoo Formation. It is a derived dataset created by the subtraction of the base of the Paskapoo Formation from the top of the formation, which in the western part of Alberta is also the bedrock topography. The gridded isopach data cover only the undeformed part of the Paskapoo Formation that extends west to the front ranges of the Rocky Mountains. The isopach data do not include those parts of the formation affected by tectonic folding or thrusting.

This digital dataset represents the modelled outputs of the three-dimensional distribution of sandiness in the Paskapoo Formation, Alberta, Canada. Sand-abundance values were determined from log analysis of water-well lithologs and petroleum exploration downhole-geophysical logs, specifically gamma-ray logs. We derived the sandiness values by calculating the average sandiness in 25 m thick slices above the base of the Paskapoo Formation in a borehole and by assigning the average value (P50) to the midpoint of each slice interval. Alberta Geological Survey Bulletin 66 provides detailed descriptions of the methodology.
