As part of a multidisciplinary geoscience project, the conductivity structure of the lithosphere beneath the Melville Peninsula, Nunavut, has been imaged using magnetotelluric methods. The data reveal near-vertical, less resistive features that extend through the crust and correlate with surface fault traces.

As part of NRCan's GEM (Geo-mapping for Energy and Minerals)program, the Diamonds project is designed to study the deep lithosphere beneath the Slave and Churchill provinces of northern Canada. The primary goal of this project is to develop an understanding of the potential for diamonds and reduce risk in their exploration. During three summer field seasons (2010, 2011, and 2012), magnetotelluric (MT) data have been acquired and analyzed in order to help achieve this goal.

Results of a ground geophysical survey near the eastern limit of the Shield to Selwyn transect extends our knowledge of the spatial distribution of Paleozoic and Proterozoic sequences. Subsurface faulting in the center of the transect, just east of a large gravity anomaly, has created a large deformation zone traceable to mid-crustal depths.

Four years after the first Yukon Geoscience Planning Workshop (the Marsh Lake Workshop, Yukon Geoscience - A Blueprint for the Future, Yukon Geology Program, March, 1995), forty-two representatives of industry, academia, and government met at the High Country Inn in Whitehorse to re-examine the state of Yukon geoscience. Over two days, with the expert facilitation of Steve Morison, Gartner Lee Ltd., the participants reviewed the first plan, the work that was done since 1995, and produced a new set of priorities to guide Yukon geoscience into the next millenium. The 1999 Yukon Geoscience Planning Workshop had a format similar to the 1995 workshop and many of the original participants were able to attend. This continuity greatly added to the quality and credibility of the input.
