This guide provides information on the requirements of the Cannabis Act and Cannabis Regulations related to voluntary recalls of cannabis and cannabis products.

This guide provides general information that may assist manufacturers, importers, distributors, wholesalers and retailers of consumer products or cosmetics on how to complete an effective voluntary recall of their products which are available in the Canadian marketplace.

This guide provides information about the packaging and labelling requirements for cannabis and cannabis products under the Cannabis Act and the Cannabis Regulations.

The purpose of this document is to provide guidance to holders of a licence under the Cannabis Act (hereafter referred to as licence holders) on the application of Part 4: Physical Security Measures of the Cannabis Regulations. It is designed to help licence holders understand the physical security requirements for conducting authorized activities with cannabis.

It is industry’s responsibility to ensure that they are selling consumer products and cosmetics that are compliant with the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act and its regulations, and the Cosmetic Regulations under the Food and Drugs Act. When non-compliance is identified, action is taken to protect Canadians which may include removing the product from the market through a voluntary recall. The recall process generally includes the cessation of all manufacturing, importing, distributing, advertising and selling of the affected products, as well as communicating to consumers the actions they should take to prevent exposure to the danger posed by the affected product(s). When a recall is initiated, Health Canada’s Consumer Product Safety Program publishes the information related to the recall on the Healthy Canadians website to assist in the distribution of the recall messaging to all Canadians (https://healthycanadians.gc.ca/recall-alert-rappel-avis/index-eng.php?cat=4).

This guide provides guidance and information about the packaging and labelling requirements for cannabis products under the Cannabis Act and the Cannabis Regulations.

Regulations under the Cannabis Act set out the rules and standards that apply to the production, distribution, sale, importation and exportation of cannabis by federal licence holders.

The limits set out in the tables below apply to the declared net weight and volume of cannabis that are required to appear on the labels of cannabis products in accordance with section 133 of the Cannabis Regulations.

The table below lists all laboratories and establishments that hold a licence for Analytical Testing under the Cannabis Regulations. These licence holders are authorized to conduct analytical testing activities with cannabis.

The Vehicles Recall Database is used by the Defect Investigations and Recalls Division to record recalls and monitor recall completion rates pertaining to vehicles, tires, and child restraints.

The API excludes all the “inconsequential” or “non-safety related” recall data.
