MODIS-Aqua Chlorophyll-a (Chl-a) was acquired from the NASA Ocean Biology Processing Group at processing Level-2 (version 2018), 1-km resolution, where Chl-a concentration was calculated using the OC3/OCI method. The months of January and December were excluded from this dataset, as data in the winter months at higher latitudes are missing due to low sun angle preventing acquisition. The pixels were aligned on a regular grid using the SeaDAS program, after which the monthly geometric mean value at all pixels was calculated for individual years. Finally, the geometric mean and geometric standard deviation factor of chlorophyll-a were calculated by month from these images.

The quality level of all satellite observations was also acquired with this dataset, and used to remove any pixels with a quality level lower than 4. Further, pixels with fewer than two occurrences over the period 1990-2020 were removed from these maps, and set to a NaN value in the tif files.

This data set consists in a compilation of data acquired by aeromagnetic surveys in Canada, gridded at a 200 m and 1 km resolution. Magnetic anomalies show small variations in the magnetic field that are caused largely by variations in the magnetic properties of Earth's crust. The first vertical derivative of magnetic anomalies is calculated from the residual magnetic field and enhances the short wavelength component of the field. The magnetic character of a rock depends on its ferromagnetic mineral composition, its concentration and its deformational and metamorphic history.

Monthly mean temperature from Bedford Institute of Oceanography North Atlantic Model (BNAM) results were averaged over 1990 to 2015 period to create monthly mean climatology for the Northwest Atlantic Ocean, which can be considered as a representation of the climatological state of the Northwest Atlantic Ocean. The BNAM model is eddy-resolving, NEMO-based ice-ocean coupled North Atlantic Ocean model developed at the Bedford Institute of Oceanography (BIO) to support DFO monitoring programs. The data available here is monthly climatology for eight selected depths (surface, 110 m, 156 m, 222 m, 318 m, 541 m, 1062 m, bottom) in 1/12 degree spatial resolution. The data for each month from 1990 until present for the entire model domain ( 8°–75°N latitude and 100°W–30°E longitude) and various depths is available upon request.

This record contains satellite-sensed chlorophyll-a concentration images of the Canadian Beaufort Sea at 1.1 km resolution. The dataset consists of 276 images, aggregated into two-week composites by calculating the mean value at each pixel, comprising years 1998 through 2020. The dataset spans two ocean colour sensors, MODIS-Aqua and SeaWiFS. The Arctic Ocean Empirical algorithm was used to calculate chlorophyll-a concentration, after images were corrected for atmospheric effects using the NIR-SWIR switching algorithm, and Remote Sensing Reflectance (Rrs) were produced.

This data series represents the volumetric soil moisture (percent saturated soil) for the surface layer (<5 cm). The data is created daily and is averaged for the ISO standard week and month. The data is produced from passive microwave satellite data collected by the Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity (SMOS) satellite and converted to soil moisture using version 6.20 of the SMOS soil moisture processor. The data are produced by the European Space Agency and obtained under a Category 1 proposal for Level 2 soil moisture data.
