The Canadian Environmental Sustainability Indicators (CESI) program provides data and information to track Canada's performance on key environmental sustainability issues. The Global trends in protected areas indicator reports on the terrestrial and marine area afforded protection for conservation globally. Additional information is provided showing a comparison among 10 selected countries. Information on protected areas is collected, analyzed and made available by the World Database on Protected Areas to support a number of international reporting initiatives.

The Canadian Environmental Sustainability Indicators (CESI) program provides data and information to track Canada's performance on key environmental sustainability issues. The Global trends in bird species survival indicator's Red List Index shows trends in aggregate extinction risk over time (i.e., overall improvement or deterioration in threat status) for bird species on the International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List. The index is derived from the proportion of species changing category due to genuine biological status changes from one assessment to the next, and acts as an indicator of the changing status of global biodiversity. A downward trend in the Red List Index indicates that the set of species assessed has moved to a higher level of extinction risk.

The Canadian Environmental Sustainability Indicators (CESI) program provides data and information to track Canada's performance on key environmental sustainability issues. The indicator summarizes the status and trends of ecosystems within national parks. Each ecological integrity indicator consists of a rating (good, fair, poor) and a trend (improving, stable, declining), based on monitoring results and knowledge of ecological systems. The Canadian Environmental Sustainability Indicators (CESI) reports on the ecological integrity of national parks as an indicator of the condition of Canada's protected areas.

The Canadian Environmental Sustainability Indicators (CESI) program provides data and information to track Canada's performance on key environmental sustainability issues. The water quality indicators measure water conditions for various locations across Canada. It combines measurements of a wide range of substances found in water samples. The indicator focuses on how suitable the water is for plants and animals; aquatic life is present in all water bodies, is sensitive to pollution, and reflects the overall health of aquatic ecosystems.

The Canadian Environmental Sustainability Indicators (CESI) program provides data and information to track Canada's performance on key environmental sustainability issues. The Emissions of harmful substances to air indicators track human-related emissions to air of 3 substances that are defined as toxic under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999: mercury, lead and cadmium and their compounds. For each substance, data are provided at the national, regional (provincial and territorial) and facility level and by source. Global emissions data are also provided for mercury.
