High-resolution statistically downscaled climate indices relevant to climate change impacts in Canada are available at a 10 km spatial resolution and an annual temporal resolution for 1951-2100. The climate indices are based on model projections from 24 global climate models (GCMs) that participated in the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 5 (CMIP5). To address the needs of different user groups in Canada, agroclimate indices and other indices that were proposed by the Canadian adaptation community through a series of consultations are provided. This range of climate indices are of relevance to adaptation planning for different sectors in Canada, such as human and ecological health, agriculture and energy.

Environment and Climate Change Canada’s (ECCC) Climate Research Division (CRD) and the Pacific Climate Impacts Consortium (PCIC) previously produced statistically downscaled climate scenarios based on simulations from climate models that participated in the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project phase 5 (CMIP5) in 2015. ECCC and PCIC have now updated the CMIP5-based downscaled scenarios with a new set of downscaled scenarios based on the next generation of climate projections from the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project phase 6 (CMIP6). This dataset is referred to as the Canadian Downscaled Climate Scenarios–Univariate method from CMIP6 (CanDCS-U6). CMIP6 climate projections are based on both updated global climate models and new emissions scenarios called “Shared Socioeconomic Pathways” (SSPs).

Since April 2018, all organizations are required to use a results reporting structure based on the Policy on Results, which consists of a Departmental Results Framework (DRF) and a Program Inventory. The Policy on Results sets out the fundamental requirements for federal departmental accountability for performance information and evaluation, while highlighting the importance of results in management and spending decision making, as well as public reporting. It seeks to improve the achievement of results across government and enhancing understanding of the results the government seeks to achieve, does achieve, and the resources used to so. A Departmental Results Framework describes:
- What the department does (i.e Core Responsibility)
- What results the department is trying to achieve (i.e Departmental Results) and,
- How progress will be assessed (i.e Departmental Indicators)
This collection provides the data behind the PSC’s DRF indicators that measure if the PSC is meeting its core responsibility of Public Service Hiring and Non-partisanship.
