This dataset is a collection of measurements which make up two water quality indexes: Nutrients, Physical and Major Ions (NPMI) Index and Metals Index. The measurements are taken at two different locations along the Thompson River annually in early-July. The chemical composition of water influences the biological productivity and species composition of rivers. Changes in the water quality in the rivers and creeks in the Western Arctic can act as early indicators of ecosystem change.

Ground plot data include individual large-tree and small-tree measurements, shrub tallies, understory vegetation sampling, vegetation cover, stump assessments, woody debris data, surface substrates, site descriptions and soil measurements.
The flood extent products are derived from satellite imagery with a system developed and operated by the Earth Sciences Sector (ESS) of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan). This emergency mapping service is activated for large flood events in Canada. Products are generated and distributed in near real time as processed imagery becomes available. NRCan works closely with Public Safety Canada's National Headquarters in Ottawa, Regional offices, and Government Operations Centre (GOC) to define of user needs, technical feasibility and for the coordination of satellite acquisition planning.
